This is news and The Fordyce Letter is our industry’s Wall Street Journal

April 2, 2008

Some may wonder why I care about this. I have no idea how long the MRI franchisee below has been in this business but I have 22 years and the guy who started MRI could be my grandfather and the guy who runs The Fordyce Letter was making placements when they were paid for with beads. In that crowd you don’t go messing with someone’s reputation unless you are using facts. So Bernie , how ‘bout some facts?

Here’s the deal with that email sent to the members of US Recruiters network and subsequently God-knows-who. This is exactly what I know for those who have been asking me. The only thing I did was to make the names of the ‘accused’ unsearchable since this stuff will be in cyberspace pretty much forever. I don’t know how many members US Recruiters has. There are about 20 or 30 listed under the letter ”A” in their membership directory. I received this from one of their members who sent it to the TRA Board of Directors. Thinking it immediately, literally, “unbelievable” I asked other MRI members who hooked me up directly with the franchise in the message. His explanation is below. I should note here that even though it appears that this MRI franchise was involved in nothing nefarious at all that MRI has nothing to do with this. In fact, MRI leadership should be praised for getting this run down within an hour of questioning it. I don’t blame the franchisee for wishing this would just go away but in the same spirit of “warning” I think Bernie Watring should now respond to the rest of the world with some kind of follow-up to the response from what appears to be an innocent accident.

Heck, while I was waiting to hear what happened I spent 5 minutes Googling T im T ormey and figured out most of this myself. Could not US Recruiters have checked this out? Did Bernie Watring know this and ignore it? Did she ever call to see if TT was listed as a recruiter with this firm?      Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2008 8:50 AM

Item Two: A member warns about a scam.   Hi Bob, We just had a very dishonest thing happen to us.  Bob LaGroue (in our office) recruits for H o s p i r a and he had an opening with them, in Syracuse, NY.  He found a bogus resume of T im T ormey on one of the “boards” and the candidate (T im) said he was interested in our position, after Bob described the job to him.  Bob sent the resume in to H ospira and got him an interview. It turned out that T im T ormey is a recruiter and went to the interview just to make a contact and steal the job order from us (see below)!  I have been in business for 20 years and have NEVER had this happen.  It is very fortunate that Bob and all of us here at WAI, have a great relationship with everyone at H ospira.  Our client was very appalled and has already sent out well blanket emails to all managers in H ospira and A bbott telling everyone of the dishonesty of this recruiter and no one there will be permitted to use T im T ormey and his affiliates.

Please warn all our affiliates of this recruiter SCAM and to avoid doing business with: T im T ormey M ANAGEMENT R ECRUITERS OF S YRACUSE-EAST BUILDING THE HEART OF BUSINESS (TM) 131 W. Seneca St. #137 Manlius, NY 13104 Office: (315) 263-436  tg tormey@aol.com  <http://www.mr syracuse-east.com>
Thanks, Bernie Watring

Hi Pat, Thanks for your time on the telephone the other day. I am disturbed by the recent chain of events regarding T im To rmey and the confusion it has caused. The e-mail below was apparently sent to a number of people by a competing recruiting firm. It is inaccurate, misleading and disparages both this office and Ti m T ormey. The e-mail statement read: “He found a bogus resume of T im T ormey on one of the “boards” and the candidate (T im) said he was interested in our position, after Bob described the job to him.  Bob sent the resume in to H ospira and got him an interview. It turned out that T im T ormey is a recruiter and went to the interview just to make a contact and steal the job order from us” T im has been involved in the sale of medical devices for over 20 years. He has had his resume out on the job boards for several months looking for a new sales position. He interviewed with 6 companies since January, most recently with the company referenced above, H ospira. Immediately after interviewing with H ospira, he withdrew himself from H ospira’s hiring process as he was convinced that it would not be a fit (more service vs. sales/lower income etc.). He went to that interview seeking a job, not as a recruiter. T im subsequently referred a friend to the hiring manager. This office previously assisted T im in seeking a new position of employment and I had spoken with him about the possibility of him becoming a recruiter. After his interview with H ospira, he expressed to me an interest in becoming a recruiter with my organization, and we immediately discussed him joining my firm.

I trust that these facts address any concerns there may be with either Tim T ormey or this firm.

Thanks,

J ohn
